THE DION INITIATIVE

for Child Well-Being and Bullying Prevention

A resource and research program that promotes environments that foster the health, well-being, and academic success of children.

Home: Welcome

WHO WE ARE

The Dion Initiative is named after Dion France, the brother of founder Nicole Stanton, who was bullied relentlessly as a child. Although Dion passed away in the early 1990s, his memory lives on in this endeavor, which began over a decade ago as Stop Bullying AZ and has grown to gain national prominence.

RESEARCH

The Dion Initiative consults leading scientists, renowned educators, dedicated direct service providers, and private-sector innovators to create a greater understanding of the obstacles our children face and what is needed to overcome them.

EDUCATE

The Dion Initiative translates the research for communities so that they can focus on making the changes that address childhood trauma, improve school climates, reduce bullying, increase academic performance, and, ultimately, change lives.

Home: What We Do

“In an era of increasingly scarce school and community resources, we cannot afford to gamble our future on flash-in-the-pan solutions that manipulate emotions and rely on anecdotes as proof. Science and experience are required; as is an understanding that real change requires time and commitment.”
